Pushes and Pulls

This week we started a science unit on force and motion.  We covered the following key concepts:
An object starts to move when there is a force. A force is a push or a pull Forces always happen between 2 or more object. A push is a force that moves something away from the pusher. A pull is a force that moves something towards the puller. We did many different science experiments to help learn these key concepts.

Secret Reader Fun!

Last week we had another secret reader come in!  She read the book Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss!  It is such a funny book!  The students LOVED it!  The kids are having such a great time trying to guess the clues!

Tapping A Tree

We were so lucky to have Heidi Pancake's dad come in and tap a maple tree for us out in the courtyard.  We were able to watch him drill the hole and put in the tap.  We had to hang the bucket up really quickly because the sap started to run right out!

Another Secret Reader

This week we had a big kid friend secret reader.  That was so fun!  He read us the book Waiting Is Not Easy by Mo Willems. He gave each character a funny voice!

We have been working hard over the last two weeks around the idea of being mindful. We used the books  The Dot  and ...Ish  by Peter H. Reynolds and also Giraffes Can't Dance by Giles Andreae. As a group we brainstormed lots of things that we could not do YET,  but also all of the things we can do.  We made fantastic bulletin board highlighting all of our art work and our thinking around this topic.  When you come in for conferences make sure to stop and take a look!

Secret Reader Fun!

Last week we had a Grammie come in and be our secret reader.  She read us several funny books. We had such a fun time listening to them!
