Bonny White the EFNEP Nutrition Educator from UVM Extension is coming into our classroom for six weeks. The program they offer for kindergarten through 2nd grade, called Book-in-Bag, is very simple and flexible. During each of the six classes she will read a food related story book, learn about a food group, do some physical activity and cook something with that food group.
The first week Bonny introduced the program by reading Oh, The Things You Can Do That Are Good For You! By Tish Rabe and talk about MyPlate dietary recommendations, the importance of exercise, along with the best practices of washing hands. Then, we practiced washing hands and made blueberry pancakes.
