After a 10 day delay due to a snow day and winter break, we finally had a chance to celebrate Valentine's Day. The Kindergartners had such fun opening all of their Valentine cards and celebrating with a very special treat! We had won an ice cream sundae party for selling the most raffle tickets in the school. Ice cream was the perfect "topping" for our Valentine's Day fun. It was such a special day to share together with the ones we love!

Today we celebrated the 100th day of school (during the big snowstorm)! It is a huge milestone in the primary grades. We talked about how we have become 100 days smarter since the first day of school. Each student made a 100's day hat and a necklace with 100 Fruit Loops. One thing that we did was to find out how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. This was a delicious and fun way to practice counting!
Today we went on a walking field trip to the West Brattleboro Post Office. The weather was sunny, but quite chilly! The Kindergartners each wrote a letter to their families, purchased a stamp from Holly and mailed it. We got to cancel our stamp, get a tour of the post office and helped Holly wait on the customers. It was a great time!

Today we had not only one secret reader, but two and they were both moms!! In the morning, we heard a book called The Greenzys by Danielle Mentzer. It is a book about the Earth and ways that we can help keep it clean. In the afternoon, we listened to Audrey Bunny by Angie Smith. This book is about a stuffed animal named Audrey Bunny who fears her imperfections make her unworthy of a little girl’s love. The class enjoyed both stories very much!

This morning we had a wonderful literacy breakfast! Thank you so much to all of the parents and grandparents who attended this event! Each child was given a copy of Thomas' Snowsuit by Robert Munsch and enjoyed breakfast in the classroom. It was so exciting to have our families here to spend time with us!
