Climbing High

Academy School is lucky enough to have an amazing rock wall.  My Kindergarteners were given the opportunity in physical education class, if they wanted to, to wear a special harness and climb up the wall as high as they wanted!  This was such a thrill for them!

This Week's Secret Reader

Today we had another Secret Reader surprise our class - it was Amelia's dad.  He read the book Snowmen At Work by Caralyn Buehner.  It is a great winter story about the different jobs that snowmen do in a town (police, fire, teacher, etc.)  We loved it!

January Four Winds

A parent volunteer has started to come in once a month to teach us a science lesson. This month's Four Winds lesson was all about snowflakes. We learned about all of the different kinds of snowflakes.  We talked about how all snowflakes are unique and start from a speck of dust. There was a puppet show, snowflake picture sort and we even got to make our own snowflakes out of coffee filters.  It was so much fun!

Our Next Secret Reader

Today we had another Secret Reader surprise our class - it was Hunter's mom.  She read the book The Mitten retold by Jim Aylesworth.  It is a great winter story about a boy who looses his mitten and all of the animals that decide to make it their home.  We loved it!

Secret Reader

Today we had our first Secret Reader of the year!  It was so exciting!  Our Secret Reader knocked on the door and we had to guess who it was by the four clues we heard. It took until the very last clue to figure out who it was!  It was Andy, Kylie's dad!!  He read us the book My Little Sister Hugged An Ape by Bill Grossman.  It was a great story!!  I wonder who our next Secret Reader will be???

Star Of The Day

Each day in the month of January we are doing a little extra to honor our star person of the day. For each student, we create a star with all the reasons why this person is special.  It is such a wonderful experience to hear why your friends think you are special.  The smile tells it all!
