Pancake Breakfast

On Monday, we had a pancake breakfast with all of our Kindergarten friends in the gym to celebrate the end of our maple sugaring unit.  It was not only fun, but delicious as well! Thanks to Allegra and Tish for making the pancakes and to Paul for the delicious syrup!

Fun With Our Secret Reader...

This week we had an aunt as our secret reader!  Tamara Hamm is a children's librarian in a neighboring town, so she knew just the perfect books that the Kindergartners would love!  She read the book The Big Green Pocketbook by Candice Ransom -- she even brought her own big green pocketbook with all the items from the story!!  She also read The Lost Lamb by Melody Carlson and brought everyone their own little lamb mask.  It was such a fun time!!

Secret Reader!

This week's secret reader is the special friend of one of my Kindergarteners, Shirley Squires.  Shirley has known this child since he was born so she told us all about him!  She read the book Good Morning, Good Night - it has been one of his favorites since he was young.  Shirley also made chocolate chip cookies for the children and brought each of them a notebook and a pencil. It was a special time!

Tapping A Maple Tree

Our custodian, Paul, showed us how to tap a maple tree.  We had such a fun time watching him drill the hole!  The sap came running right out of the tree!  He put a tap in and placed a bucket underneath.  We are going to check back to see how much sap our tree is producing.

The Animals' Adventure

These three children have been working with Dianne Clouet, our Enrichment Teacher, for the last several weeks.  They have been working together with some of their Kindergarten friends to write the book The Animals' Adventure.  It is a great story about a pet store owner who tiptoed through the woods capturing cats and how the cats' friends found them again. They read their story aloud to the class and did a great job!

Our Secret Reader was...

Today we were lucky enough to have Sgt. Mark Carignan come in to read to us.  We were thrilled to have him come back in to spend time with us!  His visit this fall to talk about his job was very exciting and informative for the Kindergartners.  He read the book A Day At The Police Station by Richard Scarry. This is a book that is loved by his two daughters.
