We love secret reader time!

Today we had another great secret reader come into our classroom.  For the first time, we had a big sister come read to us - Randii Elie.  She read one of her brother's favorite books Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus by Mo Willems.  This is such a funny book!  We had a great time listening to her read!

Learning About Migration

This month the focus of our Four Winds program was bird migration.  We learned many new things!  Did you know that most birds fly at night?  Some birds do fly during the day and use rivers and landforms to find their way.  Migration is hard work!!  Half of the birds do not make it!  Birds decide to migrate because the weather here becomes cold and they need to find food.

Today we had Physical Education with Mr. Johnson.  For part of the class, the kindergartners did some fun things with hula hoops to get their bodies moving.  Everyone had such a great time using the hula hoops that I could not resist sharing some of these cute photos!  Even Tish had fun!

Learning About The Phases Of The Moon From Our Big KIds

This week we learned about the phases of the moon from our big kids.  They are studying about the moon, so we did an art project together!  It was terrific!  They used paper plates to be the phases of the moon and labeled them.  Carrie read them the book Wait Till The Moon Is Full by Margaret Wise Brown when they finished their project.  We always have a great time with our big kids!!

This week's secret readers!

This week we were lucky enough to have two secret readers!  We are enjoying having special people from our lives come in and read stories to us!!

On Wednesday, this mom was our secret reader!

She read us the story Seven Little Rabbits by John Becker.  This was a childhood favorite of hers.

On Thursday, Jaime was our secret reader. She is a special friend of one of our Kindergarteners.

She read us the book Grandma Drove The Snowplow by Katie Clark. It was a funny story she found at the bookstore.

Saying Good-bye

Yesterday we had to say good-bye to our high school intern, Sarah.  She has been with us for the first half of the year, so this made it very sad to see her go.  We made her a book and had a party to celebrate her.  She will be missed!!

Sarah read the class one last story.

Secret Reader

Today we had our first Secret Reader of the year!  It was so exciting!  Our Secret Reader knocked on the door and we had to guess who it was by the four clues we heard. It took until the very last clue to figure out who it was!  It was Nick, Stephen's dad!!  He read us the book Deep Down Underground by Olivier Diners. Nick and his family know this author and this book was dedicated to his family was he was younger.  It was a great story!!  I wonder who our next Secret Reader will be???
