Gingerbread Fun Day!

My students had a wonderful time this week decorating Gingerbread cookies. They did such a wonderful job!  I am not sure if they had more fun decorating the cookies or eating them! A big thank you to our room mother for baking the cookies for us!

Our Trip to the Bakery

Our class took a field trip across the street to Sunny's Deli and Bakery.  Bob and his family were so kind to show us around the bakery. There were so many things to look at! We had a chance to watch some cookies be decorated by Bob's mom.  They looked so good! As a special treat, we got a chance to have a gingerbread cookie and apple juice.  They bake delicious cookies! We had a great time!

Here is the cute bulletin board that the Kindergarteners created with their 5th grade buddies....so cute!

Kindergarten Bakery

In our classroom we have been reading many versions of the story of the Gingerbread Man. These stories have been so popular that we created a Gingerbread Bakery in our housekeeping area.  It is so cute to watch the students not only "bake cookies", but also wait on customers by taking their order.  Such fun is had in this area of our classroom!

Visiting the Fire Station

We had a great trip to the West Brattleboro Fire Station !  The firefighters greeted us at the door and showed us all of the supplies on the truck. They also talked to us about fire safety. The kids were told that if they were ever trapped in their bedrooms during a fire, they should open their window and throw stuffed animals down and yell.  I thought that was a great tip!  Another firefighter put on his gear to show the kids what he looked like with his gear on so that if they ever saw a firefighter during a fire they would not be scared.  The highlight of the trip was the opportunity to sit in a fire truck. We learned so many new things on this trip!

We are at the fire station!

"What do you think is behind this door?"

Showing the kids the nozzle they hook on the hose

Watching with lots of interest!
