Today we had the great pleasure of having both Mr. Paciulli and Ms. O'Neill read the story of The Gingerbread Man to all of the Kindergarteners together. The children enjoyed having both of these special adults spend time with them and they even brought a special treat - gingerbread boy and girl cookies for all! They were delicious!

Today we had a class of BAMS middle school students come and read to us! It was a such a wonderful experience for the Kindergarteners to have a chance to spend time with an older student! I know that the BAMS students also enjoyed their time with us!

We had a fabulous time this afternoon decorating cookies! A huge thank you to all of the families that made this fun event possible! The Kindergarteners were able to decorate cookies to bring home and also decorate some to donate to Bridget's Kitchen. Of course, there was juice and cookie to eat after all of their hard work!!

The week before holiday break is always such a fun time! We started our day by going to holiday school sing - we had a great time singing and dancing! We came back and did a great Gingerbread literacy activity that I found on the internet - the children hunted around the room for little gingerbread men that had either a "real word" or a "nonsense word" on it and recorded their results. These are all 3 letter words that they are able to sound out using the skills that they have been learning this semester. It was so much fun that they want to do it again another day!! They also finished up coloring in a gingerbread story to take home to share with their family!

Over the course of the year, we have written many class books about field trips we have taken or adaptations of books we have read together. Last week we started to do some writing on our own using our newly acquired literacy skills. We had a great class discussion about lists.... the different types of lists and why someone might want to write a list. This is such a great time of year for lists! I know that I would not be able to get through this time of year without one! All of the children are engaged and working hard during this time.

Some of the favorite times of the week for the Kindergarteners are when they go to specials classes. Twice a week (Wednesdays and Fridays) they are lucky enough to have physical education class with Mr. Johnson. Today they worked on many different gross motor skills including galloping and sliding. The highlight of the class was using the parachute - lots of laughter and squeals could be heard!
